From a TV Journalist to a Salesman in a Software House - How to Get a Job in the IT Industry

Oskar Pawlicki's journey to Idego represents an unconventional path into the software industry. He joined the company in mid-September as a sales support assistant, becoming one of the first non-programmer employees at the Gdynia office.

Before his professional career at Idego, Oskar organized a conference on healthy living featuring Polish bodybuilders. His early entrepreneurial interests were rooted in passion for fitness and dietetics. During his studies, he leveraged these connections to co-create a local television program called Two on One, which featured interviews with notable residents and attracted approximately 70,000 views per episode.

Oskar's international experience came through a two-month internship at the European Parliament in Brussels during his final year of university. This opportunity allowed him to develop language skills and gain insight into European Union operations.

The recruitment process at Idego involved multiple stages: an initial phone conversation, a remote test requiring English email responses, and final interviews with CTO Krzysztof and CEO Piotr. The entire process took less than a week, culminating in his job offer.

Oskar thrived at Idego due to the company's flexible approach, including relaxed dress codes, flexible hours, and remote work options. A huge dose of trust, autonomy of work and constructive criticism allow him to develop at a very fast pace.

His responsibilities evolved from basic tasks like customer database creation to content marketing and inbound sales. He also contributes to company branding through video content, photography, and graphic design work, representing a multifaceted role beyond traditional sales positions.
