Wind of Change

Since arriving in Poland for an internship at Idego, the author has experienced numerous new things. From cuisine and scenery to meeting people, the transition has been transformative. Coming from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, the author sought international experience in the IT industry.

The company provided an excellent welcome, with the author arriving before the Summit 2022 event. "I was impressed by how open people were, also the games, the bonfire, some beers, and good food were perfect for making new friends." The organization actively embraces diversity and works to maintain team unity and productivity.

Regarding work culture, Idego's remote-friendly approach proved appealing. The author worked from various locations including Stockholm, Berlin, Amsterdam, and while traveling to Warsaw. This flexibility contrasts sharply with previous banking sector experience, which featured unproductive meetings, formal and structured communication, and a dress code.

Poland itself has been welcoming. The author notes the multicultural environment and international communities that facilitate integration. Support from organizations like IAESTE (The International Association for the Exchange of Students For Technical Experience) further enhanced the experience.

The author concludes that choosing Poland and Idego was a great choice that helps improve skills and be more open to new things.
