How We Started CSR in Our Software House

When companies expand, they gain opportunities to contribute beyond their bottom line. Idego Group recognized that while business objectives matter, their team members are people first—people aware of societal needs and suffering.

To guide their corporate social responsibility initiatives, Idego surveyed employees anonymously about causes worth supporting. The responses revealed strong interest in children's healthcare and welfare organizations.

Learning about Hospicjum Pomorze Dzieciom, a children's hospice operating under the motto "If we can't add more days in our children's lives, we'll add more life in their days," the company felt compelled to act. HR Manager Maja Augustynek connected with board chairman Ewa Liegman to identify urgent needs.

The hospice required medical equipment valued at 3,000 PLN. CEO Piotr Groza and CTO Krzysztof Gibas committed company resources to fulfill this request. However, the team wanted greater direct engagement.

Recognizing that some colleagues work remotely, Idego creatively involved everyone. Staff in Gdynia delivered toys and gifts to the hospice, while remote workers arranged ongoing financial support. The hospice serves entire families, including siblings of patients, making such donations particularly meaningful.

The author expresses pride in working for an organization balancing commercial success with spreading joy to vulnerable populations.
